Agenda & Minutes

Board of Trustees

As the corporate authority of the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District, the Board of Trustees governs the District. The board has the power to supervise, control, regulate and manage the District and to make and enforce all necessary ordinances, and rules and regulations for the proper management and conduct of the business of the Board for carrying into effect the objects for which the District was formed. Such powers are subject to the provisions of the statutes of the States of Illinois and the ordinances of the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District.

The Board shall consist of three persons who shall be elected for six year terms, and until his or her successor has been duly appointed and qualified. The Board shall perform such duties and have such powers as may be delegated to it by statue. (70 ILCS 705/1 et seq.)

Regular meetings of the Board of Trustees shall be designated by the Board of Trustees. All meetings shall comply with the provisions of the Illinois Open Meetings Act. A special meeting may be called by the president of the Board or any two Trustees upon at least 48-hour notice to all Trustees. A special meeting may also be called for a future date at any meeting of the Trustees by a majority vote of the Trustees attending the meeting. Notice and the agenda of all meetings shall be provided pursuant to the Illinois Open Meetings Act. (5 ILCS 120/1 et seq.)

The Board shall appoint a recording secretary to attend all meetings of the Board and prepare minutes of those meetings. The recording secretary shall keep, or cause to be kept, a true and correct copy of all transactions of the Board in regular and special meetings, open or closed, and committee meetings. The minutes of the preceding meeting, with any changes made by a motion properly carried or as directed by the president without objections, shall be approved by the Board and signed by the secretary at the next business meeting. The official minutes of the Board shall be kept in the District’s administrative offices and shall be made available to citizens for inspection during regular business hours within seven days of approval. The Board shall periodically, but no less than semi-annually, meet to review minutes of all closed sessions. At such meetings a determination shall be made, and reported in open session that the need for confidentially still exists as to all or part of those minutes or that the minutes or portions thereof no longer require confidential treatment and are available for public inspection. (5 ILCS 120/2.06; ILCS 140/3).
