Residential Knox Box Program
The Bloomingdale Fire Protection District has established a Residential Knox Box Loan Program for the residents of the District. The objectives of the program are to expedite the paramedics reaching the patient and to minimize or eliminate damage to property by forcible entry. The knox box is a secure steel box in which residents can place the key to their home for rapid access by fire department crews. These boxes can only be opened by a single key which is securely locked on fire apparatus and ambulances within the Bloomingdale Fire Protection District.

- The loaner residential knox box can only be used for a Bloomingdale Fire Protection District resident living within the district boundaries
- An individual with an existing medical or physical condition which could render him/her unable to open a locked door in an emergency situation.
The department has a limited supply of residential knox boxes available for this program. To obtain a knox box, please contact Administration at 630-894-9080 weekdays 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
The Residential Loaner Knox Box is available as a one-year loan subject to renewal, if necessary. We do require a cash/check security deposit of $30.00 which will be returned when the box is returned to the Fire District.
The Residential Loaner Knox Box remains the property of the Bloomingdale Fire District and is to be returned to the Bloomingdale Fire District when the condition of the individual no longer warrants the use of the box.
